On 20/2/20 my husband and I welcomed our baby girl into the world in labour suite in ninewells hospital, Dundee. I had hoped to deliver our baby in the Arbroath Midwife Lead Unit however our little girl had different ideas. After being in labour for 36 hours, we were transferred to Ninewells labour suite to try and speed up the process and so that I could have more pain relief. When it was suggested in Arbroath that we were transferred to Ninewells I was very upset and anxious about this as this outcome wasn't in our birth plan and I felt like I hadn't prepared for this in my head. However my husband and I could not thank all the staff at Ninewells enough for the exceptional care we received throughout our stay. Unfortunately we can't remember any of the midwives, student midwives, doctors or anaesthetists names, probably due to the lack of sleep at this point, however we wanted to stay thank you to everyone that helped us bring our daughter into the world safe and sound eventually on 20/2/20 evening. The care in the labour suite and post natal ward afterwards couldn't be faulted. The staff all made us feel welcome, at ease and cared for in a time when we were most vulnerable. Now our daughter is 4 weeks old and we are adjusting to new wonderful life and thank all the staff in Ninewells for giving us such a fantastic start.
