"Acute Medical Support Unit (Orange High)"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

After a recent short stay at QA hospital, Cosham I feel compelled to leave a positive review of the hospital and staff. Having been driven to the A&E unit with severe chest pains I was immediately struck by the quick professional actions by the frontline staff during these difficult times. It was reassuring to be cared for by the triage unit who encompass the words compassion and concern. This carried onward into the A&E unit where even as they were overwhelmed in these difficult times I still felt as if I was their no1 patient by all the nurses and doctors. After an hour or two in A&E I was moved into the Major unit (ward) where I'm pleased to say that even being whisked around various testing stations the care shown by all the staff was heartwarming. I eventually ended up in the Acute Medical Unit (Orange High) where after spending three days I was genuinely impressed by ALL the staff employed by the Portsmouth NHS trust. I would like to name individuals for their amazing friendliness and care but quite rightly the policy of this site prevents this, however my genuine deep thanks goes to all the ward doctors and nurses, nursing assistance staff, porters, cleaners and dining staff who all do their bit to make you stay as pleasant as humanly possible during your difficult time. However it isn't just the staff you see its also the staff who work in the kitchens as I had amazingly choice of good cooked food for the three days I was there........it was something to look forward to so my thanks to them for their dedication in an often under appreciated department. All in all I would rate my experience as ten out of ten for the staff, building conditions and visiting policies of A&E, Orange Ward and all the support staff within. Please don't let the standards drop during these tumultuous times and wish all of them and their families a safe and healthy period and my thought go out to you all. Many Many thanks to you all and the phrase "Be like Ken".

I'm really pleased to hear that you've had such a positive experience of the Urgent Care Service for the Emergency Department and AMU. I will happily share your comments with the Team who will be delighted to receive these.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this feedback with us.
