About: The Vale Practice

I have experienced good treatment in the past but when I hurt my foot I called to get an emergency appointment which is a very good option to have as routine appointment can take up to 3 weeks. The person I saw just looked at my foot and said it was nothing, perhaps a sprain but it would past after few weeks and if I still couldn't walk I should go to A&E.

I asked questions about how to make it heal, should I put some ice or a bandage or gel for the pain she just told me "yes, if that helps". I also explained that I had lower back problems and, as a result of my foot injury and my affected walking it was putting pressure on my lower back. she seems sympathetic but didn't make recommendations. I left and went to boots to buy what I thought would help thanks to advise from my family.

Thankfully, I had booked an appointment with my osteopath two weeks prior to my injury so took the opportunity to ask her to look at my foot which was still hurting. She confirmed the sprain and could feel that the bone was loose, she put tape on my foot and gave me extra to change. It's been 2 and 1/2 weeks now and my foot is not healed and I cannot call because i won't get an appointment for another 3 weeks minimum.

I totally appreciate how strained GP clinics are and I did see some good GPs in this practice in the past but twice I had experienced the "on call" GP and I didn't feel I was listened to and that my injury or my pain was taken seriously.
