I initially tried to organise an appointment online but the search engine must have been malfunctioning because there were no appointments available at all; it didn't matter what parameters I put in.
I then called to try to schedule an appointment and the answer machine says the speak to the receptionist but there was never a receptionist there. I then left a message requesting an appointment.
The clinic then called me up the next day but because it is quite a personal issue I couldn't speak about it in the office and it wasn't convenient. A few weeks later I tried to call to change an appointment. I tried to cancel online but it required an initial appointment number which I didn't have as I had thrown it away after my initial appointment.
The only other way to cancel an appointment was to wait in a phone queue. There was no answer machine facility. The first time I called I was 7th in the queue, the second time I called (several hours later) I was 3rd in the queue and the third time I was 4th in the queue. Each time I did wait on the line for several minutes but the queue went down very slowly.
Eventually I gave up and didn't end up going to my appointment. I have never had such a difficult time organising and cancelling appointments in the NHS. The actual service I received in Chalmers was good but the admin is appalling and I think they need to rethink how this service is delivered.
