"Care and kindness in day surgery.."

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Surgery (wards 19, 20, 24, 26 &29)

(as the patient),

I was given an appointment with the Day Surgery Clinic  for a Colonoscopy examination.

At first I was very apprehensive and nervous. However, the way the pleasant, kind and respectful way the staff treated me soon 'calmed me down'

In the theatre I was also treated the same by the friendly staff there. The Consultant, Mr Vella explained everything that was going to happen and as it happened, and not requesting any sedation I was able to see my insides in glorious colour which to me was most fascinating.

Afterwards I was taken back to the ward and treated to coffee and toast which was like manna from heaven seeing as I'd eaten next to nothing for the past 3 days!

Throughout. I was treated with the utmost care and kindness by ALL the staff who dealt with me. From the booking in, to the preparation for my examination, throughout the examination, and afterwards.

A big thank you to:

Ward staff: Lorna, Amy, Krisel, and Jack.

Theatre Staff: Mr Vella, Alison and Heather.

And: All the others who I didn't manage to get their names.

PS. Any chance of booking into the Day Surgery Clinic again. Not to have any examinations but to have the pampering I received?

Dear Herman Scrudge,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a lovely testimony. The staff will all be delighted to hear that you felt well looked after and treated with kindness and respect, which helped calm you down.

We appreciate how stressful and worrying it can be to have any kind of surgery or procedure and it is reassuring that your experience has been so positive. Isn't it amazing how tasty that first coffee and toast afterwards tastes? Truly manna from heaven indeed!

I will send on your lovely comments to the staff teams who looked after you and trust that your are recovering well at home.

Kindest regards

Heather
