I have received a text from my GP practice today around advice for COVID-19, I found this very unclear and very generic and very irresponsible. The message stated if you are experiencing any respiratory symptoms do not come to the surgery and do not call the surgery, however no alternative advice or guidelines have been given to patients.
I am a healthcare professional myself and I have elderly relatives and relatives with learning disabilities who have all received this same text message and found it very confusing about what to do. My elderly relative has many GP appointments due to long standing health conditions and has a cough regularly so now does not know if they are allowed to attend her forth coming appointments.
No advice was give to call another number or even a web address for advice, How is this acceptable?
I did try to contact the practice manager on this issue and was told that is their final decision and was very rude to me.
