My Mother has been detained under section 3 of the MHA since October on Caburn Ward. Some of the ward staff are arrogant and others plain lazy. Shocking ''care'' As nearest relative I asked for my Mother to be transferred to another psychiatric hospital....I was ignored. The complaints procedjure is flawed PALS is designed to basically ensure that one cannot complain. I have contacted the Care Quality Comission. Caburn Ward Bedrooms are filthy, my Mother suffers from physical health problems and no adequate provision was made for her. Staff are condescending and rude, my mother needed to be detained but her recovery is slow due to the negligent staff and innapropriate prescribing of medications. To enquire as to her wellbeing on the telephone is a struggle - I was told I ''Have no RIGHT to know ABOUT HER WELFARE'' I am her son and nearest relative. Staff have '' lost'' my mothers possesions including money. The complaints process is a ridiculous joke. I COULD write BOOK on the sheer misconduct and gross negligence at Caburn Ward. I have contacted the CQC and have a solicitor. Media attention has exposed this hospital and I am doing the same. Utterly despicable ''care'' for the most ill and vulnerable women in Brighton and Hove.
