"Visit to urgent care centre"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My 3 year old granddaughter had been unwell for 3 days,   saw G P yesterday, tonsillitis, given penicillin, unable to eat due to very sore tongue, 111 made appointment for 5 40, seen at 6 10 by a nurse. I am sad to say the examination left a lot to be desired, the nurse did not depress her tongue to check her throat, did not check her ears, did not check her glands, did not listen to her chest, all these are routine when examining a child. I have been a nurse for more than 50 years and I am truly concerned if that is the level of care that is given, we were concerned it may be scarlet fever, however I felt this nurse was very sharp when this was suggested, I am fully aware that the treatment is the same as she is taking, but it does need to be notified, her cheeks were very red and rough but alas this went unnoticed. I hope that this is read and acted upon, needless to say my daughter wears very unhappy with the consultation as was I.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your granddaughter’s visit to the Urgent Care Centre. Although the centre is located within Russells Hall Hospital, the service is provided by a company called Malling Health.

We are very sorry to note your concerns and would strongly recommended that you get in touch with Malling Health directly on 0121 612 3650.
