I had my baby at Watford hospital after a failed homebirth. Despite the birth not going as i had hoped, in every way possible, the staff (midwives, nurses and doctors) were all absolutely amazing, supportive and encouraging and did their absolute best to make sure the birth i had was a positive one, giving me every opportunity they could for me to attempt things naturally before moving on to interventions; listening to my preferences and respecting my wishes and dignity. I cannot thank them enough for the level of commitment they showed to me during my almost 48 hours on the ward. The midwives on labour ward stayed with me all the way through until my baby arrived. All the procedures i had to have done, including epidural, cannula insertion and eventual forceps delivery were all carried out with the greatest care and skill. I am severely needle phobic and they worked hard to make these procedures as quick as possible, making sure i was comfortable every step of the way. I cannot sing their praises enough and will never be able to thank them enough for how they treated me, my partner and newborn baby.
"Amazing staff in maternity ward"
