After having a routine hip arthroscopy operation that turned into a 4 hour surgery and 2 hour recovery after some complications, I am just filled with gratitude for our wonderful NHS. 💜 I have to say the whole experience was faultless. From the anaesthetist and his team who made me feel at ease and not scared at all, to the lovely surgeon who came to visit me twice and once coming back to the hospital from his Aldershot clinic at 8.30 pm after his shift had finished to check on me, to the Scottish doctor in recovery who put my worried mum and boyfriend at ease with some rubbish jokes and who insisted on pushing me back to the ward himself and not the porter. To the lovely nurse on the ward who gave me a cuddle after I burst into tears because I wasn’t allowed to go home and couldn’t wee and the night carer who helped me go to the toilet multiple times in the night to make sure I didn’t flash anyone in my hospital gown and then tucked me up in bed with multiple blankets up to my chin to keep me warm. Honestly astounded at the care and kindness of every single member of staff at Frimley Park Hospital and feeling extremely lucky to have the NHS in all of its glorious, multicultural and caring forms. We all love a moan but we are so lucky and we should never forget it!
