I have just given birth to my baby boy on the maternity unit in Raigmore hospital, Inverness. This is a very anxious and exhausting time for any parent. I was very keen that I could breastfeed my newborn, something which I had struggled with following the birth of my first child. The support of the infant feeding team was invaluable. With their time and guidance, I was able to leave the hospital happy and confident in feeding my newborn. The advantages of breast feeding are tremendous. I have sadly heard of many mums who wanted to breast feed but stopped due to lack of support and confidence. This team in Raigmore is crucial in being a strong advocate for breast feeding and an incredible support to all mums and their precious newborns.

Dear Aletia

I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your baby boy and hope that you are all doing well. This will have been an exciting time for you all.

I am however sorry to read that you struggled to breast feed you first baby.

I am pleased to read that the infant feeding team were able to offer you support through this initial period following the birth of your little boy.

It is always lovely to hear from patients that we are offering positive support. Please be assured that I have passed on your lovely comment to the staff who will be delighted with your feedback.
