My mother is 89 years old and is currently a patient in Ward 18 of Monklands Hospital. She was admitted a week ago.
I generally have a very high opinion about the level of care provided by NHS staff, while also appreciating the work can be demanding and stressful.
Having said that, I feel the level of care my mother has received in Ward 18 of Monklands Hospital has been truly exemplary.
My mother has been suffering from pain and has been confused (due to some of the medication) at times.
I’ve witnessed doctors and nursing staff be endlessly understanding, patient and gentle with her. I could not have hoped for any better treatment.
It’s been noticed by fellow patients too. A couple of nights ago, my Mum was having trouble sleeping. A male nurse spent time with her and comforted her. This was brought to my attention the next day, by the patient in the bed adjacent to my mother.
NHS Scotland should be extremely proud of all the dedicated staff working in Ward 18 of Monklands Hospital. It is a jewel in the crown of Scottish healthcare.
