"My husband"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Cardiology Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My husband had a heart attack in Truro in February 2020.  Almost immediately two shoppers - I think nurses gave him CPR. Within 6 minutes paramedics were on the scene and gave him 3 shocks and Adrenalin to bring him back.  His heart had stopped.  He was taken to A&E where he was scanned and operated on within one hour. A stent was fitted in his heart.  His heart  was apparently out of action for 21 minutes.  He was later operated on again and a second stent was fitted.  The doctors and nurses were amazing.  In fact second to none and I cannot praise them highly enough. From the time he went to A&E to the time he was discharged a week later we were kept informed of what was going to happen and why - so important when in these circumstances one cannot think clearly. So a wonderful service at Treliske and thank you once again to everyone for your care and support to my husband, myself and our family.

Dear anniejay,

Thank you for your wonderful feedback regarding your husband's experience with our Emergency Department and relevant cardiac wards. We do hope that he is recovering well.

I have forwarded your feedback to the managers of the Emergency Department in order for it to be passed onto the relevant staff, as well as the Cardiac ward managers. I will also pass this on to the Ambulance service as well.

Kind regards

Laura Fletcher

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope your husband is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in this instance, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Best wishes,

Sharifa
