"Cleanliness"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

(as a service user),

Walking the full length of the link corridor today, never have I seen so many dust bunnies either side of the corridor. These little fluffy balls have been breeding, well like rabbits.

I also regularly see cleaning staff with mobile phones in hand or headphones in.  Trying to attract their attention is difficult when asking for directions. I think this is also a fire risk if they cannot hear the alarms.

The staff at the Trust are always excellent and I love the NHS. I'm just disappointed as I don't think the cleanliness is not quite up to scratch in such a large and busy hospital.

Dear Pixie Boots,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I was saddened to read about the cleaning standards you saw whilst walking the corridors of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, you are quite right, the presence of 'dust bunnies' is unacceptable. It is disappointing to see that you have experienced staff on their mobile phones or with headphones in, this would indeed make it difficult for them to help passing patients in need of directions.

To this end, I have escalated this issue to our colleagues in Mitie, the company that currently manage our cleaning services here at the Trust and to our contract monitoring team for comment.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your story with us.

Best wishes,

Jess
