"Elective Surgery & HDU"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Day Surgery University Hospital Ayr / General Medicine

(as the patient),

A big thank you to all staff involved in my care in my recent journey through the system when having an elective procedure.  I came in through DSU where all staff and students were great.  When taken through to main theatres number 2 all staff in there were lovey even sang happy birthday to me as it was the big 40, helping put me at ease.   I don’t remember much of my next stage of my journey until I woke up in HDU I can’t thank enough the Day Nurse, Liz, who cared for me for two days she was fantastic and such a caring compassionate nurse.  Also the two male nurses on the nightshift in HDU Kevin & Mark I think (am terrible with names), they were very good at their jobs.

I was moved to ST 3 for 12hrs prior to discharge and Lorna the nurse and the auxiliaries  and students were all lovely.  As a nurse myself was strange seeing it from the other perspective that as a patient. Where thanks and great service is deserved you deserve it all.

Many thanks for taking the time to write about your experience, I'll pass your thanks onto the teams involved in your care. Staff will be delighted to hear that they had such a positive impact on your journey. Its always lovely to hear about individual experiences, I hope you are making a good recovery from your surgery.
