Six hours in A&E with dislocated elbow. Finally elbow reduced during the seventh hour of being there. I arrived at two in the afternoon and left at ten at night. I wasn't given any care instructions for my elbow. Follow up appointment in ten days the consultant I saw very unhelpful. Again, no specific instructions on exercise. Did not leave me feeling any confidence. He just said get it moving or it will be stuck; very brusque manner. Another follow up with a different consultant, the same brusque attitude, seemed dismissive, I had been trying to move my arm, but psychologically have no confidence as given no specific instructions or encouraging words. Did not ask how I felt or if I was in pain and didn't give me any specific exercises. At the last minute he just said physio to the nurse and beeped my folder with the barcode reader as if to say: you're done go away. Really poor aftercare for a dislocated elbow which is quite a serious injury. The protocol at Royal Preston Hospital is lacking and has set me back physically and psychologically.
