"Everything went smoothly"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Day Surgery Unit

(as a service user),

I had minor surgery as a day case 3 weeks ago.

A arrived as instructed at 11am.... was seen fairly quickly by the nurse, anaesthetist then surgeon.... taken to theatre at 2pm and woken up in recovery at 3pm.

Everything went smoothly, everything was explained clearly.

Unfortunately the ward was very busy and there was no space for me after recovery but the the nurse in theatre recovery was great !!

I spent 3hrs there until a bed was ready in the ward.... I was only in the ward ten minutes.... long enough to get dressed and then left for home.

My only complaint is despite being measured for the thromboembolic stockings... I was discharged with 3 pairs all different sizes (one pair I cant even get my feet into).  Fortunately I am a nurse and was able to source the correct size from a colleague.
On the whole a good experience being on the other side of health care.

Thank you for taking time to give us this feedback. My sincere apologies for your delay through the process and also the stockings. I will share this with the team so we can improve for the future. NHS Lothian values are important to us so it is great to hear our team are modelling this and I hope your on-going recovery is swift and smooth.

Michelle
