When giving birth to my son I felt the staff gave little emotional support and concentrated purely on numbers due to perhaps being too busy.
The room that I gave birth in was so small that I couldn’t walk around. The staff did not respect some of my wishes on my birth plan (eg. Kept turning on bright lights) and communicated poorly with my husband and myself.
After giving birth the recovery in the ward was great. Most staff were helpful and kind however one encounter was terribly rude. After trying to get my lethargic newborn to feed and calling for assistance, a staff member said to her colleague ‘another mum making a half arsed attempt to feed’. After this moment I no longer felt welcome or safe.
Some staff members were amazing but others made me feel like I wouldn’t never want to step foot into this hospital again.
