"Great care"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I would just like to say a big thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the A & E department of Eastbourne Hospital. I was taken by Ambulance in the early hours of Tuesday morning this week after experiencing severe chest pains, from the moment my wife phoned 111 and spoke to a nurse who after a short question and answer assessment dispatched an ambulance,(big thankyou to the crew who where very professional and reassuring). From the moment my wife and I arrived at the A & E department we were looked after, me being assessed by Drs & nurses and my wife being cared for and made comfortable. The Doctors & nurses are very good in explaining what tests they carry out and why. What was a very stressful time was made a lot easer by the kind and caring staff. Once again a big thank you to you all.

Dear Steve,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such wonderful feedback following your attendance earlier this week at the Emergency Department at Eastbourne Hospital; it is very much appreciated. First and foremost, we very hope that you are back at home, settled and in good spirits. It must have been an incredibly worrying time for you and your wife, and so it is reassuring for us to read that from the moment you spoke to staff at 111, you felt well cared for and supported with kindness and professionalism. These are often immeasurable sources of comfort and reassurance, and we are delighted with your positive experience of care.

The Trust works hard to provide a high standard of care to all patients, and particularly those attending our Emergency Departments where care and treatment can often make a difference between life and death. It is also important that our care is underpinned by a strong sense of duty in care and the values of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect, and these were clearly evident not only in your experience of care, but in the care and support given to your wife who would have been extremely upset and worried about you.

We will ensure your generous words of praise are shared with senior staff in the Emergency Department, as they will want to read how much you valued and appreciated the care they gave. We wish you, and also your wife, all the very best for good health in the future.
