Unbeknown to me I suffered a TIA on a Sunday morning in November 2019. It happened at the changing rooms at the local swimming baths. I developed a very short lived trembling in my hands & arms & was unable to use them to tie buttons on my clothes. I had a headache thereafter but no other side effects.
My wife eventually persuaded me to phone my GP on the Tuesday, I had an appointment on the Wednesday, received a phone call from the Stroke Services Dept on the Thursday asking me to call the next morning. The service that I received from the staff that day was outstanding. I had all the checks carried out, including an MRI & an ultrasound & bloods & also all the results & a second meeting with the Doctor all by the afternoon.
Dr North spent a long time questioning me & testing me to rule out any other reason for episode & was very patient & thorough. She prescribed new meds for me. The staff were very apologetic at the time I might have to wait until the machines would be available while I was absolutely delighted to know that they would be done that day! No amount of money could have bought better for me & I was astounded at the level of care & attention that I received that day in such a short space of time. The follow up tests including a 24 hour heart monitor & liver function tests were carried out shortly thereafter & several letters to my GP were also sent. A very BIG thank you to Dr North all her staff.
