"The best care anyone could wish for."

I was so worried and nervous about my colonoscopy procedure at the Nottingham City Endoscopy Department on 22nd Feb – but I needn’t have been at all! I was so well cared for by all the wonderful staff and clinicians there, from the moment I arrived at Reception until I left one hour and a half later.

My appointment was on time and I met the lovely, friendly nurse who initially took care of me. When the consultant came to see me, I was talked through the procedure in detail and with sensitivity, and involved me in any decisions that were made. He inspired confidence and I am very grateful to him for persuading me to avoid the pain management (due to a reaction in the past) and put my trust in his excellent skills instead. The procedure was nothing like I’d imagined (or had too often read about on Google!!) and I’m sure I would have managed equally well even without any sedation. I actually watched the procedure on the screen, which I never thought I’d do!! The whole process was completed in no time and the results were given immediately, which saved a lot of unnecessary worry. Another lovely clinician looked after me for the recovery period – and it was wonderful to be able to drink and eat once again!
