"I cannot begin to thank the amazing team enough"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 208 via my GP around 11days ago with pancreatitis. Something I’d never heard of and something that I wouldn’t wish on anyone else. Without a doubt the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.

Having gave birth 6 weeks ago hospital was the last place I wanted to be, and being separated from not just my new baby but the rest of my family has been heartbreaking. I cannot begin to thank the amazing team of doctors, specialists (pain team/dieticians) and nurses they have here in 208. They’ve made me laugh, cheered me up when I’ve felt down and reassured and comforted me when the pain has reduced me to tears. To the Staff nurses Mandy, Pauline, Laura, Stacey, Rachel (there’s a few of you) HCSW’s Magda, Liz and Yvonne, phlebotomist Suzanne and the amazing team of doctors and junior doctors I honestly cannot thank you all enough. You really are all an absolute credit to the nhs! And to students Stephanie and Amy who have spent days running around after me, yous will make amazing nurses one day and you to, will be a real credit to any ward that you work on!

Dear EM89

I'm very sorry to read that you've had such a tough time - pancreatitis is very unpleasant so very happy to hear that you are recovering.

Thank you for the wonderful feedback, all the staff will be pleased. I will ensure that your comments are passed on to the nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams.

It's very reassuring to read that the staff cheered you up, made you laugh and comforted you when the pain was bad.

I'm very proud of the team and delighted that you found them a credit to our organisation.

I hope you are feeling better and many congratulations on the birth of your baby!

With best wishes

Linda Carmichael
