I had help from Daoine, an Infant feeding support worker in the Highlands, when my son was born to help establish breastfeeding. After 2 weeks of trying myself and lots of tears, I was experiencing a lot of pain and developed mastitis. Daoine came round to my house with a midwife to help look at positioning during breastfeeding and check for tongue tie. Tongue tie was quickly spotted and I got an appointment at a clinic to sort it out.
I have been attending Daoine's feeding support group in Dingwall since. This has helped me get out the house and meet other people in a relaxed environment. I wasn't feeling confident about going to other groups in the early month due to not being comfortable with breastfeeding yet. However, this group was so welcoming. Without the help from the infant feeding support worker and group I would probably not still be breastfeeding.
