About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 5. Nurses are amazing. They care for you as an individual and make you feel cosy. Medication arrives when it should. Nurses will stop and pass time of day. If nurse busy when patient requests help, they will say they will return in a few minutes.... and they do. Support staff all very good, they always have time to stop and pass the time of day. All staff are smiling (which patient much appreciated) although everyone is busy with their job.

One doctor spent time explaining to patient condition. Another doctor today did not spend time communicating with patient who was left with any unasked and therefore unanswered questions. MRI scan had been done and results available.

Patient been informed to ask for extra medication if required, and has done. This was provided quickly by nursing staff.

Dear uhh202

Thank you so much for your recent patient care opinion post. All Staff within Ward 5 strive to deliver the best person centred care to all patients, timely and efficiently. Staff within Ward 5 are happy at their work and try to take the time whilst delivering care to speak to patients, and despite being busy.

The medical staff are always available to update and explain to patients their plan of care, however I can only apologise that you were not given a full explanation to one of your questions.

I do hope that you are progressing well and have had all your questions answered now.
