"Access for disabled."

About: Heartlands Hospital

(as a relative),

Visiting my partner twice a day on Ward 3 to help feed her i walked from the disabled car park through outpatients or the old main entrance to the ward.

Thiis was fine mornings but the outpatients access doors are locked at 6pm and the corridor to the old main entrance has been blocked by building work.

Disabled visitors must now walk down "Hospital Street", down the escalator and past the restaurant to the main doors, around the main car park to the Security booth before facing an uphill march past A&E to get to the outpatients doors and across to the disabled car park. Difficult enough for me with arthritis and heart failure but someone in a wheelchair would find it impossible.

Dear Cj11947

Please accept my apologies for the late response.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post you and your wife's experience whilst on ward 3 at Heartlands Hospital. I am very concerned to read your comments and would like to reassure you that the Trust takes seriously the issues that you have raised. I have sent you posting on to the senior team for car parking and they are currently looking into your concerns.

Could I please ask you to contact me on 0121 424 0808 or email uhb-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net so that we can obtain some more information.

With kind regards

Patient Experience Team
