"Excellent maternity service "

I had a terrible experience with my first child in another hospital so I was nervous about going into hospital for my 2nd child!

But I had an amazing experience at York hospital, I was induced at 38 weeks after reduced movements, I was admitted to the ward after attending maternity triage! The staff were so lovley, I had my own room whilst being induced and then was quickly moved onto labour ward to the delivery suite. My midwife throughout the whole labour was the same midwife who was incredible, explained everything she was doing, took into account I didn’t want to be in hospital but made me feel in safe hands and comfortable! Was so lovley to myself and my partner, she kept a close eye on me & my baby when my waters had broke (as my waters were green) she was very professional but still treated me like a human being and not just like a patient! After two hours of labour my baby daughter was safely delivered :) both me and my partner were brought tea & toast whilst still in the delivery suite whilst the midwife ran me a bath so I could freshen up. They done all the checks and weight of my daughter, once I’d freshen up the midwife took us over the the ward where I got admitted for the night as I lost a lot of blood. The midwife stayed with me until everything was handed over to the other midwifes!

The midwifes on the postnatal ward were excellent, they noticed my daughter was making a grunting nose due to potentially swallowing some of the green waters during labour so they sent the doctor down to check my daughter over and they kept a very close eye on her, checking on her every hour! Luckily she didn’t need any antibiotics to treat an infection as tests came back clear. When it was time to come home, the staff were lovley. Gave me all the information we needed and on the way out we saw the midwife who delivered my daughter and she wished us all the best!
