"IRRESPONSIBLE "

My 75 year old father fell ill to cellulitis on Sunday and went straight to the clinic on Monday morning requiring urgent antibiotics. He was told there were no appointments. He said that he had suffered this before could a doctor just prescribe the same antibiotics. No we do not do that. He asked if he could speak to a doctor on the telephone. No we do not do phone calls on a Monday. He was sent away with no help. Having a wife at home who has just gone through chemotherapy he was reluctant to leave my mother whilst he sat in A&E for 8 hours or drag her there with him. He went home. The condition worsened and in the middle of the night he rang 111. Knowing how this could lead to sepsis and be life threatening, they kindly sent a doctor out at 3 am to give him antibiotics. Absolutely shameful reception staff. Whoever sent him away should not be working in medicine.
