I attended A&E at Forth Valley Royal Hospital because I found it impossible to swallow. The team at A&E were magnificent and after checking me over referred me to the Clinical Assessment unit. I spent 5 hours at the Clinical assessment unit among many others who were not told what was happening. At 10.00pm I was told that I was to stay overnight and have an endoscopy in the morning. My wife had sat beside me for 5 hours before being told this. An elderly lady we met there was distressed because her daughter did not pick her up at 5 O'clock. She was told at 10.00pm that she was to be hospitalised and her daughter was never going to come anyway. I was discharged at mid day after the endoscopy without any information and later discovered by accident what the Assessment Unit had discovered. I still have no official communication from them. As a patient at the assessment unit, I felt treated like cattle with no proper communication. I am a huge fan of the NHS and FVRH in particular. These remarks are intended to be constructive.
