"wonderful treatment"

About: Rivers Hospital

Had a total knee replacement as an NHS patient 3 days ago. Was extremely anxious as only found out previous week from physiotherapists would in all likelihood not be having a general anaesthetic, but a spinal block + sedation. The wonderful anaesthetist couldn't have been kinder and I cannot praise him enough for his kindness and professionalism. Discharged the following day and feeling great. The entire staff -porters, cleaners, receptionists, ward assistants and of course the wonderful nurses and consultant treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. Had the usual struggle to get opiates prescribed on discharge, but that is not just this hospital, they seem afraid we will become addicted, but just for a few days to get over the worse pain feel I needed more than paracetamol but less than morphine. I was eventually given codeine. I feel truly grateful as an NHS patient to have surgery in a private hospital, just for the private room. Well done The Rivers.
