I was referred to Immunology after suffering a serious an serious allergic reactions resulting in my having to use my epipen at least once a month. One month I had to use 3!
I initially saw a ‘consultant’ who sent me away for a blood test and was supposed to return in a few months so they could find out the cause of my allergy.
That appointment was cancelled and rebooked for the following month. And that one... and that one... 14 appointments cancelled and rebooked for the next month + a cancellation letter as I had seen anyone in so long (they rescheduled when I phoned for the following month...)
The last appointment (Jan 2020) was cancelled 3 hours before my mid-afternoon appointment because they put me down to see the wrong doctor (I live 3 hours away and had just set off).
I tried to complain and received a phone call from the doctor I was supposed to see who refused to see me & told me that I was lucky to even get an appointment let alone be seen as their clinics are exceptionally busy. He also accused ME of constantly cancelling MY appointments!!!
Appalling service from so-called specialists in the area & luckily for me (not so much the doctor), I kept every single one of my cancellation letters!
I saw a different specialist at a different hospital who thinks I am now suffering from serious health problems through not knowing what is causing my allergies and not being treated accordingly - he was also furious I hadn’t seen anyone in 17 months.
