I suffer with back pain.L4/5 disc degeneration,L4 bilateral pars defect,L4/5 spondylolisthesis and bertolottis syndrome.i visited a&e earlier today 8/2/2020 in agony.the waiting time was 1 hour.i was told to sit on a hard back chair in waiting room.i sat there for about 30 minutes and I couldn’t handle the pain no more I needed to lay down.so I explained to the receptionist I’m going home I’m in too much pain I need to lay down I can’t sit on those chairs.she just said ok.didnt offer me another solution at all.i went home and came back later on because of the pain.the waiting time was 2 half hours.i said to the receptionist I can’t wait that long I’m in agony.she just said well that’s the waiting time.so I came home.anyone with my symptoms will know you cannot sit on a hard back chair especially when you have more pain then normally.im going back early hours in morning when it’s quite. I’ll suffer till then.i will be visiting PALS first thing Monday morning.

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

We apologise you didn’t feel you had a great experience when you visited Rochdale Infirmary earlier this month. As a Trust our teams do their very best to keep the waiting times down and try to keep patients as comfortable as they can during their wait. We again are sorry you feel we did not achieve this for you on this occasion.

Your comments will be passed to the A&E team to review at their next meeting as we appreciate feedback from all patients to improve our services.

From our enquiries you don’t appear to have been in touch with PALS and we would like you too, to discuss your experience. Please get in touch at your earliest opportunity on telephone 0161 604 5897, or email pals@pat.nhs.uk quoting that you have been advised to do so via NHS Website, to address your concerns.

Kind regards

The Patient Experience Team
