"Cystoscopy Procedure"

Staff in all departments excellent.  Everything explained well and carried out as explained. An excellent professional team.

I feel it is stressful and unnecessary however to have patients arrive 5 hours before the procedure takes place.  Although I understand the need to fast before an anesthetic is administered, I do not think it is of any benefit to patients or staff to be sitting immobile for such an extended period of time in a hospital ward.

My Pre Assessment  was carried out 48 hours before the actual procedure and therefore there was unlikely to be any significant change in my suitability to undergo a General Anesthetic.  I would have been more comfortable and less tense if I could have been given a time slot where I underwent the procedure in under 5 hours after my arrival.

I understand that at times delays can occur due to unforeseen circumstances however on the day procedures were carried out as planned and there were no emergency circumstances involved in this waiting time and I was informed this is normal practice for this clinic.
