At a time when my mum required a package of care to remain at home STARS supported her in the interim. When her condition became palliative they were able to increase their input. The support workers were so respectful, maintaining her dignity at all times and ensuring she was at the centre of their care. The support allowed me to take time for myself (5 minutes for a shower). They supported me as well as mum.
I know that STARS are a reablement team but they were there to ensure the highest level of care was given to mum.
Out of Hours nurses and Marie Curie also provided much needed support during the last days of mums life.
