"Left waiting "

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

Visited Rheumatology in Jan last year after referral from gp because of joint pain & swelling. Had blood tests & x rays. Received letter after a few months, blood results ok apart from positive ANA but was told x ray results were "still awaiting official radiology reporting " Have phoned the rheumatologist's secretary four times over the course of the last 12 months. I asked "do I have to arrange a further appointment or will I get a letter? " Was told to wait for the x ray results & I would be contacted. Meanwhile I'm in pain most of the time, have been gradually getting a lot of other symptoms ( all related to some form of autoimmune disease) and mentioned all this in the message I left when phoned. I got a call back from the rheumatologist's secretary each time, telling me they are "still waiting". The fourth time I rang I didn't even get a call back answering my message! Checked with my gp surgery & they have not received any other info either. So I have given up "waiting" now! Getting by with painkillers from gp, but it's not ideal as this doesn't help my other symptoms. I'm getting more help by googling stuff! Even if the x ray results are fine then surely there would be something else the rheumatologist could test for? I've just been left "wondering " , well not anymore as I'm not chasing it up again & feeling like I'm being a nuisance. Will probably be dead by the time I got a diagnosis anyway.
