"Minor head injury"

About: St Austell Community Hospital

I attended the Minor Injuries Unit on the morning of the 19th January, having fallen the evening before. At the time of the fall, I hadn't considered the MIU as an alternative to waiting for hours at A & E in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske. However, as soon as I walked into the MIU, I was treated as a priority as I had a head injury and seen straight away. Within an hour I had my wounds (face and knee) cleaned and dressed, a detailed check-up, x-rays, feedback and advice before being discharged with an open invitation to return should I experience complications. Thank you. The nurse treating me was sensitive, caring and very professional and, together with her team, provided all the services I needed rather than my having to go to A & E. I encourage more people to use this service if they are sure it is a minor injury.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share the positive experience you had in the Minor Injury Unit at St Austell Community Hospital. We will forward this to the Matron who will cascade it to the staff members. They will be pleased to hear this.
