I attended the Minor Injuries Unit on the morning of the 19th January, having fallen the evening before. At the time of the fall, I hadn't considered the MIU as an alternative to waiting for hours at A & E in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske. However, as soon as I walked into the MIU, I was treated as a priority as I had a head injury and seen straight away. Within an hour I had my wounds (face and knee) cleaned and dressed, a detailed check-up, x-rays, feedback and advice before being discharged with an open invitation to return should I experience complications. Thank you. The nurse treating me was sensitive, caring and very professional and, together with her team, provided all the services I needed rather than my having to go to A & E. I encourage more people to use this service if they are sure it is a minor injury.
