I was in acute pain and discomfort with prostatitis. My gp had prescribed strong antibiotics two days earlier but my surgery was unable to see me at short notice so I went to Dorchester A nd E.

Although the department was very busy I was treated with the utmost care and respect.

Within a few minutes I had seen a nurse who quickly assessed my problems, arranged blood and urine tests and after a short wait I was speaking to a doctor.

This young lady doctor thoroughly examined me, went through my recent medical history and consulted a urologist. I had to wait for test results and advice from the urologist. In the meantime this lady doctor was dealing with other patients. Eventually she was able to call me in and fully explain her assessment of my problem and give me an explanation and advice on how to deal with this difficult and painful condition. She also arranged a comprehensive follow-up from the urology department.

I can't praise this lady doctor enough or all the other hardworking staff in the a nd e department.

Hello Patrick, it is fantastic to hear about the care you received from the staff in the Emergency Department at Dorset County Hospital– this is the high standard of care that we hope to achieve for all our patients, and it is great to see we are getting it right.
