"Waiting times / communication between specialists"

About: St John's Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

Although I’m very aware of the pressure the staff within the nhs endure every day , I’m dissatisfied with the waiting times and lack of consistency my mum is experience at the moment with nhs lothian . She has Been attending orthopaedics for over a year to determine whether or not she needs a hip replacement, they now feel it may be a vascular problem . So we are in limbo again waiting on another appointment. Communication between specialities with the nhs seems to be non existent as we have contacted the appropriate department and they have no knowledge of a referral for mum , even though her last consultation was weeks ago.

While all this is going on my mums quality of life is severely affected due to the pain she endures daily .

So , come on nhs lothian get working on you communication it’s poor and causing patients anxiety and potentially unnecessary extended waiting times .
