I visited Oncology Outpatients on Level 1 of Bexley Wing at St James Hospital.
On arrival the receptionist had their identification card backwards meaning their name could not be seen. They were not wearing a “Hello my name is” badge.
The cornered reception desk is positioned so people either stand directly in front of the receptionist, or to the side of the receptionist. From the side position there is full view of the information on the receptionist’s computer screen. Patient names and data were visible on the computer programme being used. I understand the hospital takes Information Governance very seriously and I was surprised that this has not been highlighted before; and if it has, why has action not been taken. Considering the sensitivity of this department I am keen to hear how will this be addressed before any future visits? I do not wish to contact the complaints team and look forward to a suitable outcome here.
