"Being on the other side is incredibly scary"

About: Derriford Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I had surgery today to fix a fractured ankle.

The care, compassion shown throughout was so wonderful.

As a fellow NHS worker, being on the other side is incredibly scary.

The SHO Sophia was wonderful, really made me feel at ease explaining everything and the anesthetist was so kind.

I felt very anxious about the possibility of having to stay in hospital, I explained this to nearly everyone in Derriford, whether this had anything to do with it or just how the lists worked I don’t know however I was seen first on the morning list again this really helped me feel less anxious - thank you for this whatever reason I was seen first.
