"Outstanding Care"

About: Harefield Hospital

At approximately 1.40 a.m. on Sunday 19 January my wife dialled 999 to get help when I awoke with severe chest pains.

The ambulance crew were fast and efficient and within minutes of their arrival had assessed the situation and made the decision to “blue light” me to the Heart Attack Centre at Harefield Hospital.

On arrival at Harefield there was a team at the door waiting for me and an angioplasty had been performed and completed less than two hours later from the original 999 call. My heartfelt thanks goes to those who cared for me on that night and those who subsequently cared for me as an in-patient.

I have experienced the NHS at it absolute best - in today’s society we are quick to complain and the media often focuses on the negatives – but I have nothing but praise for a service, often taken for granted, that really performs when it is most needed.
