"Hysteroscopy"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Went for first hysteroscopy in clinic. Very nervous. Consultant took all this on board, and was brilliant. As soon as he put the camera in, he said ‘Wow...I can’t do anything for you today, it will have to be in surgery’.

On Wednesday, under a general anaesthetic, I had a hysteroscopy plus a cervical smear, which was due.

I had 2 fibroids and a polyp removed.

I had no pain whatsoever, didn’t feel sick, or anything.

I had 5 days off work, for the bleeding to subside and the effects of the anaesthetic to wear off.
