After attending the GP with my 11 year old daughter last Thursday with abdominal pain we ended up in A& E about 1830 that evening. We were swiftly taken from the waiting room when my daughter began having chest pains by the Health Care Support Worker Karen who was so lovely with my daughter and put her straight at ease. She showed her some breathing techniques to help calm her down.
We were then attend to by a lovely Nurse called Lucy, who again was so kind, who did some obs on her including an ECG. After this the Doctor arrived, I think she was called Rosie? , who explained everything was looking good and nothing alarming had been found which was reassuring, she took some bloods to cover all bases and she was happy when those all returned clear.
At no point were we made to feel like I had wasted their time which is sometimes how you feel when nothing is found, and that we should re-attend if my daughter got worse. She was included and spoken to the whole way though her attendance at A& E. We really need to appreciate the service we have here at the BGH and how hard working and dedicated all the staff are.
