I have to say, having only just registered at the surgery, my initial impression is very, very poor. Once again, reception staff think they know best have a total lack of empathy, care or compassion and are frankly very poorly trained and incredibly rude. I shan't go in to full details, but when it comes to very poorly children and people undergoing cancer treatment, I would expect the reception staff to 1) listen and not continually interrupt, talk over the top of you and 2nd guess people. 2) To show some empathy and concern and that they do actually care. 3) But most importantly, know what they are talking about which frankly they clearly do not!!
I genuinely wish I'd registered my family elsewhere and would if it wasn't for the locality to home. Having said that, once I managed to navigate my way through the reception staff / gate keepers / bouncers, the practice nurse I have seen was totally wonderful and everything you would hope for at your local doctors. It's just a real shame that you are confronted with this initial awful customer service when you are at your lowest ebb, most vulnerable and unwell.
