"A + E Chaos"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

To start - all the staff I dealt with were very nice and clearly hard working.

I arrived at the A+E department with a long queue of people in front of me, all trying to check-in. After 15 minutes I checked in with a broken ankle however I was told there were no free wheelchairs. The waiting area was packed with over 100 people so I had to sit on the floor.

Over the next 6 hours I was assessed, xrayed and seen by a doctor - and I was forgotten twice which no doubt prolonged my visit.

The information provided is zero during your visit. There is an announcement system that was barely used. Digital display that were unused. Patients names were shouted out, sometimes from 3 different place. Over the noise of the room is was very difficult to hear.

It felt like stepping into a third world country. An antiquated department without the systems to deal with patients and provide relevant information to said patients. If I am number 50 in the queue, at least knowing that makes the situation more tolerable.
