Back in September 2019 I was referred by my GP for an appointment with an OS to discuss options for dealing with a problem with my knee which I have already had two interventions on.
January 2020 I contacted my surgery to see if they had any feed back on a day for an appointment as I had heard nothing. They confirmed that they also had heard nothing and suggested I contact the New Victoria where I had been referred to. I did so and the person who I spoke to was very helpful and said they would check about my appointment and call me back.
Within 20 minutes they did indeed call me back and gave me an update. At this stage I was no. 19 on a waiting list of 32 and that I couldn't expect an appointment until April 2020 at the earliest which would result in an approx overall waiting time of some 36 weeks.
This is for a consultation only and not a procedure. Is this normal? If so the service is in a considerably worse situation than I could ever have imagined. Is there any hope of this ever improving?
