Checked into A& E reception following an injury to my arm. I was immediately directed to the new minor injuries just outside the main A&E. This was housed in a large portacabin type building and was immaculate inside. I sat down for a few minutes and was then brought through to a treatment bay. I was immediately examined by a nurse practitioner who was very friendly and professional. I was then directed back into the main building for an X-ray and then directed back to minor injuries. On arriving back I was immediately seen and informed there were no broken bones, given a sling and some advice. I was examined, had an X-ray, got the result, treated and on my way home in less than an hour. I think it’s a great idea having the minor injuries and it must take pressure of A& E, especially in winter, I would be supportive of this being a permanent fixture. The SNHS recently seems to have been getting a very bad report from the mainstream media, which I find totally unjust. It may not be perfect but we should be celebrating this fantastic service we all get and not knocking it. I had a fantastic service from everyone who was friendly and carried out their roles with the upmost professionalism.
"The minor injuries unit is a great idea"
