"Outstanding and exemplary care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency Queen Alexandra Hospital / General medicine Queen Alexandra Hospital / Neurology

(as a parent/guardian),

Our son was admitted to QA via ED in a semi conscious state from his Uni Halls of residence . He quickly became extremely unwell and arrested in the ED . Thanks to the quick thinking of the medics from ED / ICU our son’s life was saved - he was literally dying at the point he was helped. A diagnosis of meningococcal meningitis B was given a couple of days later. As a result, our son also had bilateral strokes.

Our son received outstanding and exemplary care by all the paramedics who brought him in, ED, ICU Medics, nursing, physios, Acute Neuro Team and all the therapists on the neuro rehab ward for which we are so grateful. He’s making an amazing recovery and will hopefully return to University in September.

Our son would not be with us without the prompt interventions of  brilliant HCPs.

Thank you for taking the time for sharing these lovely words. We always try to provide the best possible care to our patients, I am happy that your son is recovering well after his health scare. Please be reassured that I will share this with the Teams involved in his care as I am sure they will be happy to read this.

Wishing your son a speedy recovery.

Best Wishes

Lisete
