Car parking

(as a carer),

I had a 1.00 pm appointment at outpatients 

With my 85 year mother 

Who needs a wheelchair 

And has her blue badge 

This must be a parking wardens dream

I have never seen so many cars on double 

Yellow lines

Blue badge is useless here

So where did I park double yellow line

If you have no business at hospital 

Don’t park here.

Dear Wizneyme

I am sorry that you and your mother experienced difficulties finding a car parking space whilst attending Hairmyres Hospital for an out patient appointment.

The free car park at Hairmyres Hospital is intended for use by patients, visitors and healthcare staff and is particularly important for members of these groups who have a disability. To encourage proper use of the car park adhesive warning notices are attached to inappropriately parked cars, however, we still experience ongoing issues with availability of spaces made worse by a number of people who use the car park when they have no need to use the hospital.

Over the coming months we are planning to implement a new traffic management system to help ensure car parking spaces are used correctly. In the interim we will continue to monitor parking and discourage those parking inappropriately.
