"Appointment"

About: Somerford Grove Practice

(as the patient),

I have been a patient at Somerford Grove Practice for more than 10 years and I really don't understand how this is working because I can't see a doctor because there are no places and no appointments available when I need them.

Whenever I try calling to make an appointment its not possible, or someone from reception tells me to come the next day at 8: 30 in the morning - but some people are critically ill or can't walk or have a fever and they can't walk so I have to go hospital A&E because of that.

I do some work for a different Practice who always have available places and appointment. Why should they have appointments available every time? I'm going to find out.

Also, being treated people by online is not good idea for me - and seeing a different Doctor every time is also not good. I know a few very good Doctors and I am happy to see only them because I have health issues and they know about my medical history, so seeing a new Doctor is wasted time when the appointment is only 10 minutes. I know that Doctor's work is very hard, and dealing with patient is not easy and a lot of responsibility.

Dear iwona,

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you have experienced problems with our appointment system and was unable to get an appointment when you need it. You are more likely to get an appointment with the GP of your choice if you book your appointment in advance. Appointments are available to book up to 3 weeks in advance and within 48 hours. We also have a GP Walk-in clinic every morning but we understand that this may not be suitable to all patients, and you may not see the GP of your choice. Seeing a different doctor may be unfamiliar but they all have access to your medical history.

We are currently reviewing our appointment system and will use your comments during discussions with Practice staff and the Patient Participation Group (PPG). If you wish to discuss this further or would like to join our PPG please contact the Practice Manager.
