"Recurrent miscarriage"

About: Brinnington Surgery Stepping Hill Hospital / Gynaecology Stockport Medical Group

(as a service user),

Approximately two weeks ago after my wife had suffered some bleeding (approximately 9 weeks and a few days pregnant) she was advised to come into the early pregnancy unit at Stepping Hill to be checked over. We went and was told there was a sac there but no sign of a baby - therefore a missed miscarriage which will be our third.

Before they will refer to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, they are insisting on another scan even though she has bled heavily since and we have both phoned to try and get the referral. Being made to wait to be told what we already know for the sake of protocol feels cruel and hurtful. This hospital has never on either of the 3 occasions offered any kind of psychological support.

All our GP practices have offered is referral to a charity but despite working full time we can't afford to make a donation so conveniently never get offered any appointments.

Update posted by Karlos82 (a service user)

I have sent an email and am now waiting for a response. There have been further developments to do with this same experience.

Upon attending for the second scan on the 23rd of this month, the miscarriage was confirmed as I knew it would be. We were told we couldn't be seen for 12 weeks to let my wife's body get back to normal.

We were told try not to get pregnant or any tests couldn't be carried out.

It felt like they were saying "we've done all we can for you now off you go". No support was offered at all to us. It feels like we've been left to it. All remarks were addressed to my wife with the nurse occasionally glancing at me. In fact she didn't even ask who I was.
